Furry Friends Farm - Sarah and Shannon…

KLANG: When Australians Sarah Wren and Shannon Muche read that dogs had been abandoned on Pulau Selat Kering, they immediately wanted to help.

“We read what had happened when we were in Vietnam and decided that we would help care for the rescued dogs when we came to Malaysia en route to London,” said Wren, 28.

Both Wren and Muche contacted Furry Friends Farm (FFF) founder Sabrina Yeap as soon as they arrived in Malaysia.

They are currently volunteering their services by helping to take care of the dogs rescued from Pulau Selat Kering at the FFF sanctuary in Kundang near Rawang.

The dogs were dumped on Pulau Selat Kering by Pulau Ketam residents recently with the endorsement of the Klang municipal councillor in charge of the island Tee Beng Lee.

Wren, who owned a pet accessories business in Brisbane before selling it off to travel several months ago, said she was shocked to read about the dogs.

“It is disgusting to know that people can be so cruel as to go out of their way to get rid of the poor strays in such a manner,” she said.

Website developer Muche, also 28, concurred, adding that it would take a lot of time for the rescued dogs to get over their ordeal.

“The dogs are still frightened and frail. It will take a long time for them to be rehabilitated,” she said.

Muche said Tee must ensure that all the surviving dogs on Pulau Selat Kering are rescued.

“He must be made fully responsible to get the dogs back as well as make provisions to rehabilitate them,” she said.

Even some outsiders cared and took time off their vacation to help these lovely creation. I simply don’t understand why are there people out there being that cruel and inhumane, dumping them at a place where they will have no chance of survival. We are all fed with the same food and we drank the same water. I can only conclude that those people lack awareness and education… and appreciation of life. Sometimes, I would rather human not being the dominant species on this planet. Let the dogs be. Afterall, the only time they fight is for food while we human fights for everything… you name it… wealth, power, a parking spot, the last bottle of 100 plus…

Fortunately, not everyone is like that. At least not at Furry Friends Farm… people there are warm, caring and they do their part in helping those in needs. Stop comparing us with those caring and helping out old folks home, orphanage and so on… there are others doing it and we all play our own part in helping those in needs in a different manner. We are helping! If you want to pick on someone, pick on those at Pulau Ketam that knew nothing but only eat, drink, sleep, make money and torture dogs. We are not like them! And those directly or indirectly involved with that big ORG picking on Furry Friends Farm, I really pity you… yes… YOU! You were once an animal lover, but that love for animals in you has long gone, blinded by your support for a greedy and money-hungry ORG who tells you EXACTLY what you wanted to hear… individually… I don’t hate you… not anymore. AllI have is pity for those little cats and dogs under your care…
